Sweet Sweet November – Part 3

Lund was gloomy and rainy on the day I got back from Lapland, and still, I have never seen it that pretty. It felt like coming home. I wished so hard to be back and when I was, I loved all the streets and corners, even the scary buses.

I didn’t come back to Lund alone, though; Kriszti was with me even if I lost her a bit on the bus because of the brilliant plan we found to get to Bauta the easiest. Well, it wasn’t the easiest way it seems. I left Kriszti at the direction of the bus stop in the centre, got her rented bike, rushed home, got rid of my bag, rushed back to the bus stop, and waited. And waited and waited in the pouring rain with a dying phone which had no money on it, either. For two, three, four, five, six busses to come and go without her and I started panicking a bit because that couldn’t be that she still didn’t get on a bus. The thing is, I was too fast; I never actually realised that biking is not only more comfortable, but also much faster in Lund than the bus. Lesson learnt. After a bit of trials and tribulations – mixed up bus stops and similar issues –, Kriszti did arrive to Bauta safe and sound. It was only after that I found the note on my door “Go: Make Memories – the perfect one, thanks Otto.

Although we were kind of half dead, a fika was essential not only so that Kriszti can see how we live here in the very first moment she arrives, but also because I was missing the others and needed to spend some times with them immediately.

If Lund was not pretty on the day we arrived, by the next evening, it dressed up in festive garments. In Lapland, the place of eternal Christmas spirit, we didn't realise that, but as we got back, it became obvious: Christmas was coming. All the outside decoration was jut about to be put on the streets and squares. Lund got lighted up for the evenings.

The next day was the planned Hungarian dinner. We slept long, then went shopping, had an extra trip to Blekinska for a guest card, and started cooking probably too late as although the dinner was due to 7, it was past 9 that we actually started eating. But we are heroes, we fried everything: loads of chicken, mushroom, zucchini with both rice and mashed potato – well, sorry, we had no time for a salad, as well. Instead we baked: pogácsa for starter and apple pie for dessert. We even managed to cook more than needed – probably the first time ever in Bauta. I just hope it’s not because you didn’t like our “granny’s meal”.

Kriszti could also experience one of the coolest Marian parties – and one of the longest ones. ;) The night was hectic, packed with happenings, but ended quite well I dare to say. And definitely with a huge morning surprise. Since when can the neighbour speak Hungarian? Oh, well… he doesn’t. Not yet. This is how we ended up having a nice brunch from ‘everything we had in the fridge’ and with the ever-must music of the boys. Malmö didn’t see us that day, neither did the bike renters, but it was a very good day, still. Plus I went to the bike shop on Monday where they were even surprised if I ever came – no one thought there was any problem. The bike was back, end of story. Of course it was, it’s Sweden after all.

So all is well if it ends well, and this month without doubt ended pretty great.
